Chinanews, Shanghai, Dec. 7 – Although Shanghai white collar women like to eat snacks and they often dine out, they still keep a good figure. A recent survey shows that compared with the white collar women in Beijing and Guangzhou, Shanghai white collar women are the slimmest. This is still true when Shanghai women are compared with women in other Chinese cities, the Shanghai Morning Post reported. The survey was conducted by Cai Meiqin, deputy head of Nutrition Department at School of Medicine under Shanghai Jiaotong University, among white collars who were between the age of 25 and 40 and made a monthly income of over 2,000 yuan.Compared with the 17% overweight ratio in Beijing and 8% overweight ratio in Guangzhou, in Shanghai only 1.6% of the women are overweight. At the same time, about 34% of the women in Shanghai are actually underweight. The report also shows that in Beijing, 1.5% of the white collars are obese, while in Shanghai, few women, if any, are obese. In analyzing the reasons, Professor Cai said Shanghai women's slim figure was largely attributed to their good life style, much exercise and healthy diet. Shanghai women tend to eat more vegetables than women in Beijing and Guangzhou. Although Shanghai women dine out most (they eat at restaurants ten times in a week averagely, more than women in Beijing, who eat out seven times in a week, and women in Guangzhou, who eat out six times in a week), they rarely eat excessively. After dining out, Shanghai women will do more exercises. In addition, Shanghai women pay particular attention to the nutrition in their diet and they tend to control their food intake. All this has helped them to have a good figure.
