Averagely, the housing expenditure of an urban young couple who got married in 2006 was 162, 900 yuan, while the average monthly income of a young couple was only 6,249 yuan at that time. That is to say, they spent 4 years total income on their wedding. Actually, most of them had to rely on the support from their parents to host their wedding ceremonies. The survey by the Ministry of Commerce also shows that the parents of 81.6% of young couples helped them in this aspect.
