Chinanews, Kunming, August 22 – Yunnan Provincial AIDS Prevention Administration has spent 3 years to survey AIDS epidemic in the province, and now they have gained a clear understanding of the situation, after checking 2.15 million people. By the end of 2006, 48,951 AIDS infected cases had been reported.The AIDS monitoring network in Yunnan covers all the counties in the province, while in other provinces, only cities have access to the network. Besides, most Yunnan residents have a better understanding of the disease than people in other places in China.Yunnan has also offered clean injectors to drug addicts, and organized volunteers to help AIDS patients and the infected.In the future, Yunnan will set up more drug rehabilitation center and more methadon issuing stations to help drug addicts, who are prone to fall victim to the disease.
