Chinanews, Beijing, Aug. 21 – Zheng Chengren, a 60-year-old bachelor that never married, has adopted 400 children. Most of these children call Zheng “father”.Zheng, who lives in a village in Jinan, Shandong Province, has become prematurely old from a lifetime of hard work. In the past 20 years he has adopted 400 children, and local officials claimed what he has done prove his love and responsibility for the young.Zheng wouldn’t keep his past secret from our reporter. He told this reporter that he once committed a crime and served prison a sentence behind the bar. He adopted his first child near Jinan Railway Station in summer 1987, and this child has lived with Zheng for 3 months. Zheng later sent the child back to his parents, and thought he had done a good thing.From then on, he started to adopted children on the streets, and for this his life become more and more difficult. Sometimes he had to collect rags-and-bones in order to keep all these children alive. Local government also supports these children and sent them to school.Zheng told this reporter that some of these children had become managers, and some had gone to study in college.
