Chinanews, Beijing, August 13 – China has suffered from a series of fatal natural disasters like storms, floods, etc. However, there is as yet no specific insurance system in China to help the victims of natural disasters.On last July 29, a heavy rain lasting 9 hours led to a severe flood in Hubei Province, tearing down countless houses and killing 5. The victims were totally helpless, for both their fields and houses were ruined.In developed countries, victims of natural disasters usually seek help from commercial insurance agencies. However, those in China can only rely on social relief and charity, which are far from enough. Although refugees can be relocated after the disaster via the effort of the government and charity institutions, there is often not enough money for them to rebuild their homes.Experts think China should set up a commercial insurance system to deal with natural disasters, as it often requires government, enterprises and the refugees themselves to work together to get over a fatal disaster.
