Chinanews, Beijing, August 2 – The Ministry of Health has released a pamphlet on the advantages of breast feeding, at the same time requiring that local hospitals should hand out the pamphlets to the general public during the World Breast Feeding Week (August 1 – August 7). Besides, special radio and TV programs will be broadcast to promote breast feeding, too.Improper feeding should be blamed for infant malnutrition in China. Statistics show that the average weight of newborns in China and in developed countries is nearly the same. However, the weight of babies over 6 months old in China is much lighter than their counterparts in developed countries, as many Chinese parents don’t really know how to arrange a healthy and balanced diet for their babies, particularly in rural areas.
