However, some scholars also express their worries about the news, saying that a united metropolis might greatly harm the retail industry in Shenzhen. Most residents in Shenzhen applaud the news, thinking that once the two cities forge a closer relationship with each other, it will become more convenient for Shenzhen residents to go to Hong Kong for travel or shopping. Shenzhen people might actually experience a more colorful life in two cities.In fact, both the governments in Shenzhen and Hong Kong have devoted great efforts in helping Shenzhen local residents to travel to Hong Kong freely. Shenzhen residents also expect that they can travel to Hong Kong freely. Officials from the Shenzhen municipal tourism bureau once said that they would submit the proposal to both the central government and HK SAR government at an appropriate time. This time, as the HK SAR government has made the proposal to the central government, the proposal stands a great chance of being approved, because the central government has always supported the decisions made by HK SAR government.
