HEFEI, July 15 -- Mud-rock flows caused by heavy downpours have injured one and left more than 7,000 people homeless in the Dabieshan mountain area in east China's Anhui Province, local civil affairs authority said Sunday.Intense rainfalls since last Sunday have hit Jinzhai and Huoshan counties in western Anhui, and triggered severe mud-rock flows in several rural villages, an official with the authority said.As of Saturday, 1,201 houses had been destroyed and a total of 146,000 residents were affected. About 7,000 residents have been relocated.The mud-rock flows also submerged several bridges, roads and water conservation facilities.Meteorologists say heavy rain is still due in the area on Sunday. The provincial flood prevention headquarters have issued urgent notice to the local authorities and required them to prepare to discharge water from swelling reservoirs.By Thursday, 403 Chinese had died, 105 were missing and 3.17 million people had been relocated because of the floods, the State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters said.
