Chinanews, Xi’an, Jun. 19 – A grand matchmaking fair was held in Xi’an, Shaanxi Province on last Saturday, and nearly 70% of the participants had higher education backgrounds.Matchmaking fair, regarded as one of the most traditional friends making process has reemerged in many Chinese cities in the past years. Such fairs often attract both young and old people.The fair held in Xi’an was very unique: male and female singles are more encouraged to sing and dance in order to curry favor with boys or girls. Its organizers also launched many games to attract boys and girls. Old people also had chances to join in the games.Parents who represented for their children participated in the fair with a more careful attitude. “Parents are worried about their children’s marriage, while their children are never so much worried about it,” said one mother. She said that parents came here for helping their children to choose their marriage in the past, and she hoped parents could play a more positive role in selecting their son-in-law or daughter-in-law.
