Chinanews, Beijing, May 29 – As Chinese stock market enters into a bullish period, more and more Chinese people plunge into the market to become stockholders. Statistics show that by May 28, the number of stock account holders in Chinese stock market had exceeded 100 million and total market capitalization in Shanghai and Shenzhen stock markets hit 18.44 trillion yuan, the Legal Evening News reported.However, an analyst pointed out that the figure didn’t mean that 100 million Chinese people are trading stocks.“Such number reflects the total number of stock account holders in the A and B share market in Shanghai, as well as in the A and B share market in Shenzhen. In addition, it also includes fund buyers and institutional investors. In regard to individual investors, one individual investor can have two accounts, one in Shanghai and one in Shenzhen. Some investors might even have three accounts, one in the A-share market, one in the B-share market and one for funds trading. So, the actual number of account holders in the stock market might be less than 50 million,” said Wen Guisheng, a finance analyst at Xinshidai Securities Co., Ltd.According to insiders, 100 million stock account holders means that apart from institutional investors, one in every ten Chinese people will be a stockholder. Although such percentage point is still far from the average point in some developed countries (where 50% of the people are stockholders), it still indicates that the large number of new stockholders will further boost the development of Chinese stock market, they said.
