Chinanews, Beijing, May 22 - According to a report on the nutritious condition of school-age kids from families with different incomes, kids from wealthier families are much taller and heavier than those from lowest-income families.Statistics show that boys from the lowest-income families in cities are averagely 3.8 cm shorter than those from the wealthiest families, while for girls the figure is 3.2 cm. Rural boys and girls from the lowest-income families are 5.1 cm and 4.5 cm shorter than those from the wealthiest families respectively.Besides, many kids from wealthy families are overweight, while kids from low-income families are underweight. Averagely, urban wealthy family boys and girls are 4.0 kg and 2.3 kg heavier than those from low-income families respectively, and the figure in rural areas is 3.6 kg and 2.3 kg respectively. If nothing is done to improve the nutritious condition of kids from low-income families and offer a more rational diet to kids from wealthy families, it will eventually lead to a public health hazard, says the report.
