OTTAWA, August 18 - Chinese qualifier Yan Zi advanced to the semifinals of this 1.34 million-dollar Toronto Cup tennis tournament after her opponent retired in the quarterfinals.Yan was leading seventh-seeded Marion Bartoli of France 6-2, 3-0 when the Wimbledon finalist Bartoli decided she couldn't continue.The 22-year-old Yan, ranked 169th in the world, beat Greece's Eleni Daniilidou 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-5) on Thursday. She also upset No. 4 Ana Ivanovic in the second round.Yan will face the winner of the last quarterfinal match between world number one Justine Henin and sixth-seeded Russian.
