Experts said the huge investment demonstrated the government’s determination to fight against pollution in Beijing.Many environmentalists think the environmental quality of Beijing has improved with the city expansion and economic development. Last year, Beijing’s air quality has met the national standard.Vice Mayor Ji Lin said that Beijing’s standard of air quality is higher than other places in China, which makes people and enterprises feel the pressure of protecting environment.An official from local environmental authority said that some 100 enterprises are producers of heavy pollution and users of large amounts of water and energy, so they should be moved out of the city. Each enterprise is granted 100 million yuan for the relocation. He said pollution could be largely reduced in this way.
