Chinanews, Beijing, August 2 – The Special Olympics flame, or the Flame of Hope, will arrive in Beijing on September 26, and the domestic part of the torch relay for the 2007 Shanghai Special Olympics will be started soon after its arrival in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province. The terminal of the relay will be Macao SAR.This will be the first Special Olympics World Summer held in Asia, in a developing country and in China.The torch bearer will mainly be police and other law enforcement officials, to show the strong ones’ care for the weak. The torch relays of previous Special Olympics were held in the host countries only, but the torch relay of the Shanghai Special Olympics will traverse through several countries in the world.The flame was ignited in Athens on last June 29, then the torch started its journey to China.The torch will reach Shanghai on September 30, and it will be then sent to the stadium on October 10, to be lit at the opening ceremony, with more than 10,000 athletes and their coaches as eye-witnesses.
