Chinanews, Beijing, August 2 – Beijing is planning to festoon the stadiums, hotels and roads to Olympic facilities with 70 million pots of flowers and flower belts covering 600 thousand sq m during the 2008 Olympic Games. This will be the first time ever for Beijing to use so many flowers to decorate the city.Beijing Park and Afforestation Administration has selected 500-plus flowering plant species (including 30 domesticated local wild plants), all adaptable to the humid and hot summer in Beijing. During the Games, these flowers will be arranged due to their different shapes and colors.It is estimated that these flowers will generate an output value of 60 million yuan, which is apparently good news to flower growers.
