Chinanews, Beijing, July 26 - During the 2004 Olympic Games held in Athens, Greece, most reporters had to endure the slow speed of dial-up access to the Internet; however, Beijing has prepared enough broadband accesses to the Internet for all the 30,000 reporters that are expected to come here to cover the Games.Beijing Netcom is responsible for the network services of the Games, which has designed an IC card identification system for reporters. Next year, reporters will need only to buy special prepaid IC cards to surf the Internet at the media section of the gyms and stadiums, and it won't require any setting changes or passwords.Beijing Netcom is also planning to build a wireless LAN covering all major Olympic stadiums and gyms, via which reporters will be able to send pictures immediately after they take them. In fact, during the previous FIFA World Cup in Germany, similar service was available and most reporters had a very high opinion of it.
