Chinanews, Guangzhou, Nov. 9 – According to Information Times, more and more people have died of lung cancer in China. According to latest statistics, lung cancer is related to smoking, and 80% of males who died of lung cancer had been smokers.Between 2000 and 2005, 120 thousand people in China became lung cancer victims, most of them being males. During a forum held by Chinese Anticancer Association (CACA), Liao Meilin, an expert from Shanghai Jiaotong University, pointed out that for men, 80% of lung cancer deaths were caused by smoking. She warned that smoking might also cause other malicious tumors.Zhi Xiuyi, an expert from CACA, said more and more young people had become victims of lung cancer. Currently China has 350 million smokers, and 1.2 million people have died of diseases related to smoking.
