A selected campaign for torchbearers of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Torch Relay is launched in Harbin, capital of northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province on Sunday, July 1, 2007. July 3 - A selected campaign for torchbearers of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Torch Relay kicked off in Harbin, capital of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province on Sunday.The campaign, which is approved by the Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Olympics (BOCOG), aims at encouraging more local residents to join the Olympic Torch Relay. It enabled the public to witness the Olympic Torch for themselves.According to BOCOG, 377 people will be selected for the Olympic Torchbearers in Heilongjiang, out of which 96 are from Harbin, 88 are from Qiqihar city and Daqing city respectively, 32 are from provincial sports institutions and 73 are from all walks of life.The relay, which will launch in China on May, 2008, will cross Harbin, Qiqihar and Daqing in Heilongjiang from July 14 to July 16, 2008.
