Xi'an, Sep. 8 - Xi'an, where the famed terra cotta warriors and horses of Qin Dynasty (221 BC - 206 BC) are located, has been chosen as the third Chinese city to host an international horticultural expo in 2011.The decision was announced by Doeke Faber, president of the Association of International Horticultural Producers (AIPH), at AIPH's 59th conference held in Britain on Tuesday, according to Wang Jun, chief of publicity with Xi'an City Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).Wang led a delegation to the conference and successfully lobbied for an expo to be hosted in Xi'an, capital of Shaanxi Province, northwest China.Xi'an, also known as Chang'an (eternal peace), served as the capital of 13 dynasties in ancient China and is home to plenty of historical sites and ruins. The most famous are legions of terra-cotta warriors and horses unearthed from the Mausoleum of Qinshihuang, China's First Emperor of the Qin Dynasty (221 BC-206 BC).The city is thought to be the only city in the world that has preserved its entire ancient city wall.Forest cover in the city stands at 42 percent, according to Wang.Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province and commonly known as a city of spring, and Shenyang, a well-known industrial city in the northeast, are the two other Chinese cities that ever hosted the expo.
