Now, CN domain name has replaced COM, a domain name that used to lead website registration, as the most popular domain name on the Internet.According to information from the China Internet Network Information Center (CINIC), over the past six months, CN domain names increased by 440,000, which equaled the total of CN domain names registered over the past decade. By the end of last June, the number of websites that adopted CN domain names reached 810,000, exceeding the total number of websites with COM domain names, to become the most popular domain names in China.“The rapid growth of CN domain names this year is boosted by years' development made for CN domain names,” said Liu Zhijiang, assistant director at CINIC.CN domain name has several advantages over other domain names. It is an easily recognized Chinese logo. The access to a website with this domain name is fast and stable. Registration of websites with CN domain names is well-protected by law and these websites can usually get a lot of new services timely.The rapid increase of websites with CN domain names indicates a fundamental change in preference occurring among Chinese companies and online users in the registration and application of website names. If CN domain name can become the mainstream website domain name, it will promote the self-development of Chinese Internet industry and help China to better compete in the global Internet industry, Liu said.
