Chinanews, Beijing, Jun. 5 – Recently 26 artificial-bred crested ibises have been sent back to nature, which demonstrates the changing focus on endangered species protection.Currently in China, artificial breeding of some 200 endangered species, such as giant panda, elk, tiger and crested ibis have been crowned with success. More than 1,000 crested ibises, 217 pandas, 2,000 elks and more than 300 wild horses had been bred artificially by 2006.Sichuan, Shaanxi, Gansu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi and Hunan provinces will participate in the activity, sending more endangered species sent back to the wild in the near future.
