　　The Report on the Request for the Listing of the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone in the Catalogue of National Development Zones， submitted by your Province， has been received. We hereby make an of ficialreply as follows：

　　The State Council has agreed to establish the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone， in which the policies， regarding levying the income tax on enterprises with foreign investment of a production nature in Economic and Technological Development Zones of open coastal cities at a reduced rate of 15 percent， shall apply， but in which other policies in Economic and Technological Development Zones of open coastal cities shall not be cited as precedents.

　　The planned area of the Kunshan Economic and Technological Development Zone is 10 square kilometers， of which a5 square kilometers area is to be developed at the first phase. Its detailed scope shall be verified by the Special Economic Zones Office under the State Council in consultation with other relevant departments.
