基本特征：这一与圣贤孔子鸟产于同一地点的原始鸟类，与圣贤孔子鸟不同的主要特征有：前上颌吻端具有一特殊的豁口，前上颌骨鼻突长，额骨短，顶骨发育。最后三个腰椎突愈合，荐椎横突与髂骨内壁贴连，荐椎神经棘相联合。尾椎已基本愈合等。另外，孙氏孔子鸟的形态特征有许多比较进步的方面。
