Chinanews, Guangdong, June 2 – South Sea Fishing Monitoring and Managing Bureau of the Ministry of Agriculture has declared a moratorium on fishing in the South China Sea, from June 12 to August 1.This year is the ninth year since the implementation of the midsummer moratorium in the South China Sea. This fishing restriction has injected more energy to the declining fishing industry of the South China Sea and has a beneficial influence on the interests of ecology, economy and society.The fishing moratorium accords with its purpose to protect young fish aggregations as the moratorium period coincides with the growth period of most young fishes of various species. Besides, it will also improve the fishing quality, thus the income of fishers.
